Aval Payasam

Aval Payasam - preparation time 10 to 15 mins
This payasam is easy to make. When aval is available we can make this in 10 mins. Some people make this without grinding the roasted aval some will make as i prepared. You can try in both way. If it is not grinded it will be like rice that is the only difference ,the taste remains the same.

Ingredients:-
Aval (flattened rice) - 1 cup
Sugar - one cup
Water - one and half cup
Milk - 1 cup
Cashew nut - 4 chopped into small pieces
Raisins - 4
Cardamon - 1 powdered
add little saffron to cold milk and keep (optional)

Preparation method :-
Roast aval in low flame till the flat shape bulges. Cool the aval and grind it coarsely.
Add hot water to aval and boil. Once the water is absorbed add milk and boil. When aval is cooked add sugar.
If payasam becomes thick mix saffron which is soaked in milk.
Roast cashew and raisin in ghee and add to payasam along with cardamon powder. Yummy aval payasam is ready. If payasam is very thick you can add little milk.

  2. Narayan,

    1. We are roasting the aval and grinding it coarsely before boiling this will making cooking process easy.

    2. If payasam ends as pudding don't worry you can add required amount of milk (thick milk) & sugar to bring to payasam.

Try it out. All the best
